For Immediate Release
Dane Rudolph - The First 10 Races.
Young Australian Dane Rudolph is now 10 races into his debut season, continuing to tick the boxes on his journey to race internationally in oval track stock car racing. Racing the number 18 Chevrolet Monte Carlo prepared by Sellers Racing in the Whelen All American Series (LMSC) at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw North Carolina, Rudolph is certainly starting to find his feet with an impressive showing on Friday June 13.
Currently sitting 8th in the championship and leading Rookie, the smile returned with a vengeance last Friday night with a fighting 5th place finish, his highest finish year to date. More importantly though, the results was not without its hiccups, with Dane qualifying 6th, getting caught out on the high line from the start and rapidly heading towards the rear of the field, finally finding a window to get down, the carving back through the field to 5th before an accident sent him back towards the rear of the field again. Not being involved in just one accident, but two bumps, which happen regularly on a short track oval race of this type, on each occasion Rudolph managed to work his way back to the front again, something he has previously had difficulty doing.
Starting out the year having never raced on an oval track before, nor having raced a stock car before, it was always going to be a tall order despite his wealth of experience on road courses throughout Asia, Europe, Middle East, and Australia over the preceding 8 years within the motorsport industry. With his typical never say die attitude, Rudolph has spent the time wisely, and not getting flustered, simply set about the task of learning the technique of oval track racing, which is vastly different in terms of corner speeds and levels of contact to his road course background, and never once lost sight of the overall goal. "I feel like there is still a lot of time in me, and we lost our way a few races ago chasing a car that I had not yet fully learnt to drive yet, so last meeting we took some steps backwards in terms of set up and have found a nice sweet spot to refocus our efforts" said an excited Dane Rudolph last night. "it was the race of my life to date, and so cool being able to be mixing it up and passing cars regularly for the first time this year"
With 6 races left in the season proper before "the chase" to the championship begins, confidence is at an all time high, both in driver and team.
The next race is scheduled to be held over 75 laps, on June 20, 2008.
