Solid Finish for Rudolph at Ace Speedway
Young Australian Dane Rudolph ran a trouble free 100 lap race at Ace Speedway on ANZAC day, regaining some lost confidence following the heavy hit of last meeting. With the Number 18 Chevy Monte Carlo requiring a fair amount of repair work in between the race meetings, the car ran faultlessly throughout the event held in Altamahaw North Carolina.
With this being Rudolph's 3rd race of his Oval track career there is still plenty of room to improve, but overall he was pleased with his 10th place finish from his 11th place starting position, learning rapidly with each lap. Reality really hit home as to just how tough Stock Car racing really is, with the eventual winner of the Whelen All American Series Race Dean Fogelman being a first timer in victory lane of just 18 years in the series. "you really understand how tough it is out there when a guy like Dean gets his first victory after 18 years, and having seen Dean race over the last few meetings, he is quick, so for it to take so long really makes me appreciate just how difficult this mountain is to climb" said Rudolph following the event.
"for me it is about gaining as much experience, and the Sellers Racing guys are really happy with the progress we are making as a team, I am going to go back home and study the tapes and see where I am missing some of the 3 tenths of a second we are missing" continued Rudolph.
The guys worked hard to chase a front end push throughout the meeting which seemed to get worse on longer runs, with the first caution period not coming until the 78th lap of the scheduled 100 laps.
"We will work on the car some more and look for some improvements, I am getting better with each lap so confidence is still very high, I am so pleased to be over here living a dream, a pretty proud Aussie right at the moment, especially to be running on one of Australia's most important holidays ANZAC day, it was nice to carry some tributes on the car to show our respect to the many brave service personnel who helped keep Australia the great country that it is" continue Dane when asked about the experiences of being in the USA.
Dane now sits 8th in the series, and leading rookie for 2008.
The next meeting will be on May 2, 2008 to be help over 75 laps.
